Astoria - an always online database for your applications

Over the last couple of month’s Microsoft have been releasing some pretty cool technologies.

Today they continued that tradition with there new product offering “Astoria”.

“What’s Astoria?” you ask.

Simply put Astoria is an online database that your applications can read/write to.

I see a great relationship forming between my ”SilverLight 1.1 project” and “Astoria”. iTunes has personalized information like playlists, where better to store that information then in “Astoria”.

So over the next couple of day’s im going to prototype integrating Astoria into ”Project SilverLight 1.1″. Exactly what im going to store in Astoria im still yet to decide but none-the-less i need to prototype this technology integration.

Stay tuned for the upcomming post…

[update: i've been trying to create an example  based on astoria and my silverlight project 1.1 but astoria keeps going down. So i've given up for the time being. I'll come back to this when astoria is more stable, when it announces beta or something equivalent]

I have had the same problem. I was able to create some basic entities and then the site would not work or give me the good old “Page validation error”.

You would figure MS people would know how to write JavaScript/AJAX code prooperly :)
